Hi is it possible to use an irrigation system to water my trees when we are on holiday and if so any suggestions on what system to use.
we can ask friends but living in the countryside means a bit of a drive to get to ours.

Yes you can, but you will have to look at what's available. I don't go away in the summer for the simple reason I have no one to water reliably and I don't trust watering systems. Yes they can work but not for me. Go to the garden centre and see what there is, none are cheap.

Most of us have stories about watering systems and friends. Many of the stories end with dead trees. Good luck.

That is my main worry either over or under watering and losing some trees?
I think I will ask some friends if they would give my trees a holiday whilst we are away.
Thanks

I have spent 100s of hours on my trees and my garden. Leaving my house in the summer is just not an option. Why would I even want to leave? It is the best season to enjoy what I have created and leaving would just make me spend time worrying about the plants and animals.
In winter I sometimes leave for 2-3 days. But that is it.
Life is about prioritizing. If traveling is important to you, bonsai is not the right hobby.

Thank you for your reply.
To me life is about enjoying different experiences and anything that can improve your health and mental wellbeing should be embraced.
Oddly enough there was a video on Youtube I watched last night from a Harry Harrington look him up? his an interesting watch? who uses just a garden sprinkler to water his collection when his on holiday. He has contributed to 51cgs youtube channel.
Suggesting that Bonsaimay not be a hobby I should pursue is your personal view which I respect however as I enjoy the learning I will be continuing with it and improving my knowledge using this forum and other means of learning.

My bad. The statement was ment to be general. The you in the sentence is not right. I have no opinion about you in person or your priorities. That is purely a case of lost in translation.
We have a saying in sweden that it is not possible to have a cookie and eat the cookie at the same time. Basically it means that prioritization is needed in life.
If one can leave ones trees in summer without worrying about over/under watering no prioritization is needed and one can embrace health and wellbeing doing both. But not at the same time. One simply cannot enjoy ones bonsai trees while not at home. Like one cannot have and eat the same cookie.
I cannot leave my trees in summer without worrying about them. So in my case there are absolutely no health nor wellbeeing to gain from traveling in the summer.?
