No, it will not harm the health of the tree. Hovever, if the trunk thickens and the gap dissapears it may ruin the design.

Being close to the pot edge won't harm the ficus. Off-center placement is common in bonsai; just ensure the tree is stable and the roots weren't excessively damaged during repotting.

Being close to the edge of the pot like that won’t harm the tree at all. In bonsai, it’s actually pretty common to position trees off-center for a more natural look. As long as the roots are properly covered and secured in the soil, you’re fine.

The main things to watch after repotting are:

1. Keep watering consistent (don’t let it fully dry out, but don’t overwater either)
2. Give it good light (ficus love bright conditions)
3 Avoid fertilizing for a few weeks while it recovers

It looks like it’s planted well, so I wouldn’t worry about the position and just focus on aftercare now.

I would be a little concerned that as the tree grows it will overbalance the pot and fall over. That is obviously not an issue today, but I can predict it in a couple of years. If that happens you could get a rock and put it on the side of the pot for balance.

I have wondered if tree over rock style developed to provide weight balance.??
