Hi, my next door neighbour has had this euonymus in a pot for over 20 years which she was throwing away. it’s never been fed and was sited by a north facing wall and has almost never received direct sunlight. The plant is extremely leggy with leaves only at the tips. The other issue I notice is there are 4 trunks. I’ve attached pictures and one of them shows my proposed trunk chops to be carried out next spring. For now I’m going to place in the ground and feed. Whilst this may not be a prime candidate for bonsai I thought it would be interesting to see what I could achieve and learn the process of trunk taper etc. Thoughts and comments gratefully received , especially my proposed trunk chops. .

Could they be separate trunks? It would make an interesting clump or group. I don't know how well they backbud. I would leave it in the pot and re pot in the spring rather than doing it twice unless it is not draining well. Not sure I would add any fertiliser more than once and organic only.

I’ve tried to see if they’ll separate and I’m not too sure , Its very pot bound, when I repot in spring as you suggested I’ll see if i can separate it and get two... thanks for your advice

I would chop it closer to the V-section of both the trunks, just above the first sleeping bud

If you keep them together, cut the outside shorter. But always look at the tree , look how the tree wants to grow. A little difficult, but it's something you need and will learn.
In general, I would always cut on different hights .
