this is a nice development. i have an ulmus from akima garden LA. Me and Robert P gave it a try to bring a seedling to my country. Almost 8 month now but i think its still adopting to its new environment. Seeing this thread inspired me more for my 2 little Ulmus.

So here we are 3 years on! The tree not as advanced as I¡¯d like, but definitely progress in the right direction. As I said at the onset, I didn¡¯t want to do anything too drastic as it was a present so goals are (1) thicken trunk and embark to add character and grow out wire scars, and (2) develop a thick finely ramified canopy that covers all the odd details¡­.
