I have no experience with indoor lighting whatsoever,(I am fortunate enough to have a skylight in my house.) however, I recently attended a meeting of the Indianapolis BonsaiClub and they had a heated debate over fluorescent bulbs vs. grow lights. The general consensus seemed to be that fluorescent bulbs were way cheaper but did not provide as much light. Good luck!
