My Juniper Bonsaiis turning brown, and I really want it to survive, it has a lot of sentimental value
The inside of the bark is still green, so supposedly there's still hope, but I need to know how to go about saving it right. What should I do?
I'm thinking about switching the soil with an inorganic one since I think it has a mostly organic one, which according to the videos is bad, but it's mid-summer and I want to confirm if that's a good idea

History of tree:
I got it on a road trip, so I had it in my car for about 2 weeks and another 2 weeks in my home because I wasn't aware it was an outdoor tree. My mom was in charge of watering it so overwatering may be a possibility. The leaves got very brittle and spiky, so I researched it and brought it outside just a few days ago. While outside, it quickly become soft but simutaneously started turning brown. Idk if it was the change or if it was already starting to die and that was just the timing.
It sits in my balcony outside under an awning; its hard to say exactly how much sun it gets but it has been cloudy
I live in Southeast USA (Georgia) btw
