Dear community

I am extremely new to the hobby, having just bought my first Bonsaitree, and am a bit at a loss as to how much I can already accomplish with the (very affordable) tree I purchased.

My main questions being:
- Do I fertilise the tree already?
- Do I leave it in the composty soil it came with or repot with bonsai soil (even if it is not quite the right time of year?)
- Do I start pruning for ramification, or do I really leave the tree be until it is bigger?

Fertilize every month or so with not too strong fertilizer.?

Don't repot until winter/early spring. This is not an edict imposed by Those In Power.? It is a reflection of plant physiology. If the soil ho.ds water I would take it out of the dish to keep water from siphoning up.

Leave it outdoors.

Join a local club and see how people in the local climate keep them alive.

Right now....Do nothing but watering.

Starting off with the right material is crucial for success in this hobby. Unfortunattely you did the misstake to buy grafted maples, not suitable for bonsai.

There are two options. The easier one is to just look for better starter material. The much harder one is to airlayer the top. If you want to go that route, join a club and seek help.
