Hi, Need help naming the bonsai. Ive had it for quite some time but don't know type and specie :(

Im quite reluctant in pruning it down - I don't really know how to shape it? Any recommendations or inspirational pics as reference?

Welcome, but I am curious.
If you don't know what species your plant is, if it is really a bonsai and if it will survive, why are planning to prune it?
A maintenance pruning? A structural pruning? An hedge pruning like Walter Pall?
As for shape, look for plants like yours on Google and see what can be done with the species.
It is inspiring most of the time.
