Wondering if someone could give me some advice.

I have a brushed cherry bonsai tree, photos attached. I hsve had this since last December. It is in a north facing bright dining room.

It has been fine most of the time, but recently has dropped alot of leaves. It does have some new growth too.

I have recently been leaving the window open over night, ? ? ? ? with the warmer weather, not sure it likes the draught.

I water it every 3/4 days and mist it very 3/4 days.

Please advise if the dropping of alot of leaves is due to stress, abd whether I should trim the dead stems?

Also whether I should change how I look after it?

The tree needs sunlight, and it is very hard to provide that indoors.? Put it out in the sun.

Assuming you are northern hemisphere a north facing window won't supply what it needs. Energy from the sun is food for the tree.?

Misting does practically nothing for most plants. It raises humidity slightly until the air moves and blows the slightly humid air away. Pour water from a sprinkler can or hose until water pours out of the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot.

Thank you for the reply. I am in the UK.? So if I move the free into my living room which is south facing.

So my watering is okay? I use a watering csn to water the plant and can use this to wet the leaves.

Should i trim the bare stems/branches back?

Ivan said, put it out in the sun. Not move it to another room.

I doubt your watering is ok. Correct watering: when the top substrate apears dry, with a fine strainer water abundantly over the whole substrate until there is a steady flow of water pouring out the drainage holes.

You can cut back dead branches or you can leave them. It is an aestetic decition, not about plant health.?

Thank you for the advice. I moved into the garden, where in the UK we have had warm weather for the last month or so.

Whilst the tree lost alot of leaves, during the last 2/3 weeks of beginning outside, it has alot of new leaves growing.

Where there are bare branches and the crown, should I cut these right back to where new growth is? I read leaves will grow eventually on bare branches. However it is recommended to do a scratch test to see if the branches are dead?

I'll point out that the UK is a big place. Weather in Windsor is not the same as weather in Thurso. I drove that in two days.? Places in between have weather in between.

Windsor was 98F/35C. Thurso was 45F/8C. Thurso had heavy winds. Windsor was still. Not the same.

Very true! I live in Cheltenham in the West. Its been between 36 to 33 degrees over the last three weeks.

If the bare branches is dead, they can be cut back at any time. If you are not sure If they are totally dead or not it is better to wait until pruning season.
