Pruned the branches, it was placed on a south facing window sill but as the leaves started falling off it eventually died.?
my point is if a tree that is difficult to grow in a temperate zone then why is it sold in the UK?

I do not understand why this is aimed at me. I have the answer to your question, but it is not bonsai related at all. Go ask the shop where you bought it.

And food for thoughts: If flowers cannot survive without roots, why are shops selling flowers without roots? Or why is christmas trees sold without roots? If you can answer those two questions, I think you already know the answer to your own.??

I can understand the frustration. Fukien tea trees are popular because they look attractive and are often marketed as beginner bonsai, but in reality they can be quite sensitive to changes in light, humidity, temperature, and watering. Many people in the UK struggle with them indoors, especially during winter when light levels drop. Just because a plant is sold doesn't necessarily mean it's well suited to the average home environment сause often it simply means there's demand for it. Don't be too discouraged; many experienced growers have lost a Fukien tea, and there are other bonsai species that are much more forgiving in the UK climate.
