Koukaen
Bonsaigarden

Keiichi Fujikawa's Kouka-en Bonsaigarden, Osaka

ÌÙ´¨¹âÈAˆ@ ÅèÔÔ - The Fujikawa Kouka-en garden is owned by Mr. Fujikawa and is located near Osaka, in the suburb of Ikeda. The nursery opened in 1950 and several of its trees entered in the Kokufu-ten in Tokyo since then.

The garden is full of great masterpiece Bonsaitrees and it is a working-place with several apprentices and students around. Fujikawa Koukaen is the shooting location for the "BonsaiArt of Japan" series, created by his former apprentice, Bjorn Bjorholm.

Mr. Fujikawa normally has international students/apprentices, very convenient for us non-Japanese speakers. Recently a BonsaiSchool was opened, where short-term classes/apprenticeships are offered (from one week to several months). In the video above you will meet Bjorn, explaining about the most famous tree in the nursery. Enjoy watching!
