Hi everyone, I’m a complete beginner with bonsai and I’d really appreciate some help with this Ficus Ginseng.I’m located in Poland (Central Europe, temperate climate), and this tree is kept indoors by a bright window.My goal is to encourage fuller growth and create a nice, balanced shape, but I’m still very new to pruning and I’m afraid of cutting the wrong branches.Could someone please mark the exact branches/tips that you would prune on the photo? A simple “cut here” edit would help me a lot.Thank you very much in advance for any advice! ?? ? ?

I am sorry to say. Ficus ginseng is not very suitable for bonsai. Some experts have pulled it thrue. But most bonsai artists stay away from them.

A simple cut here guide is simply not possible. Check out Nigel Saunders ficus ginseng project on youtube. That is the closest to a guide you will find. The channel is called bonsai zone.

Seems like this tree ran out of options long time ago. I see no obvious steps to improve the design. So it is all about maintenance pruning.

I second Geoff. During summer all trees should be outdoors. Some trees need protection in winter. Living room conditions is never good for any tree.

15 degrees!! You need to do your research on the species you are growing. And that goes for all trees in your colection. Where do they grow naturally and what conditions do they face there?

My chinese elm made it throe 6 weeks of constant sub -10 with the lowest beeing -18. Not that I recomend that. The greenhouse doors was solid frozen and there where nothing I could do but wait and see.

I think we may have the recurring Celsius/Fahrenheit issue here. -18C is cold but not as cold as -18F.? 15F is cold but 15C is not.?

Yes, an international forum. It's not that hard to add an F or C to a number in case the newbies are apt to get confused.

But on the other hand there are not one single country in the world that have 15f in the summer. So I am confident we are talking celsius. OP need to inform us what unit used.

If nothing else is mentioned, it can be asumed that the global standard units is used?
